Although I'm surprised you had to pay anything. I'm more familiar with parties being subsidised by the govt or the unions. Somehow they struggle through it and live through the embarrassments on the following day at work (or the day after if it's been strenuous party). Then she stepped down because she disliked management and wanted to do the regular work again. And then the happy hours stopped, both outside and inside the office.
