visual explanations

Back in Iceland now, which means photos. Now you can see the things I talked about in my post about Amsterdam. Here's the favorite reader-suggested cafe, a glimpse of some classic 17th century Dutch architecture, a more modern view of the neighborhood I explored on Sunday, and a peaceful courtyard that captured my fancy as well.

of course, there's also the promised picture of the handknit paniers, and for extra measure, a peek down a street in the town I visit for work.

Hello there. Would you think it very odd if I listed you as a contact on Flickr, so I could get updates on your new photos? Your photos and your Iceland are so lovely.

E, did you fall in love with Holland too? I think I will love each new country I see up in that part of the world... after seeing your pictures. You really take great shots.

Jessica- go ahead! I actually have quite a lot of people in Flickr that have me as a contact that I have never met in real life and probably never will. Seems to be how it works there.

Terry- My appreciation for Holland is very different from that of Iceland. It's a place I think I would be unable to live due to the density of the population (100 times more than in Iceland). As for you falling in love with places, I think it's possible to take a photo of almost anywhere that would make it look incredibly attractive! Maybe I should be working for tourist boards! :-)

I think you are on the right track - seriously! With your descriptive, sometimes whimsical narratives, and talented eye for pictures, you would probably be in great demand! You've had me sold on Iceland many times over, and now Holland :-D

You know there was a pattern for very intricate handknit panniers in an Vogue Knitting (US) magazine a while back. Seriously. Love the pictures and your previous post on the pool is hysterical- and fantastic.

Thought of you the other day when I went for a hike in the woods with the dog- it reminded me (well the feel of it because the southern piney woods are waaaay different from the forests of the northeast) of our little ride through the woods in Vermont years ago on that fall break...
